We strive to make each moment with horses “a blessing, a life lesson and a memory”. If you’d like to ensure your horse-moments are cherished memories or you would like to further your equestrian education, consider yourself invited to participate in any of our educational programs.
Our programs could not be such a success without our herd of Dancing Horses and Ponies! Please take a moment to learn about our DHF Herd.

Teddy
Teddy is trained as a Hunter-Jumper and has successfully competed Novice level in Eventing. Teddy used to belong to one of our boarders and he enjoyed teaching so much, that we bought him for our students. His field buddies are Prince, Phoenix and Riley and he resides in the DHF aisle with our other wonderful lesson horses & ponies. |

Waldo
Waldo is a stout little registered Morab (Morgan-Arabian cross) who stands 15.1 hands tall. He is in his 20s, knows how to drive a carriage and absolutely loves teaching new riders how to ride! Waldo lives in the DHF aisle across from Jen’s tack room. Where’s Waldo? See if you can find him! |
We Love Ponies!
A pony is a small horse measuring under 14.2 hands or 58 inches. A “hand” is 4 inches and is considered the standard measurement for horses. Why 4 inches, you may ask. This measurement came about because that was considered the average width of a grown man’s hand, and using a measurement standard that everyone had handy was a logical solution. So, if you count the number of man’s hand widths a horse is from the ground to the wither (base of the neck), you will know how tall they are. A horse is over 14.2 hands and can even be taller! Jen once broke a horse that was 18 hands tall and fortunately very sweet and quiet!
Ponies have even been used by the Vikings to fight wars (Fjord). Some ponies sometimes eat seaweed instead of grass (Shetland)! They also jump, pull carriages and are extremely intelligent. Most ponies like to have jobs - pulling sleighs (Haflinger), driving, farming or carrying packs (Highland).
In the Wild West, ponies carried the mail. It was called the Pony Express and it ran day and night. Each pony had to ride 10-15 miles before a new pony would take his place and the trail was about 2000 miles. Those ponies had to be healthy!

Cinnamon
Still in the DHF training regimen, Cinnamon is proving to be an unbelievably intelligent Mustang! She is 4 years old, 14 hands tall and has a silver tail. Her previous family rode her in only a halter & lead rope! Her BFF is Zoë so look for them in the front field together. |
| Note: Fancy DHF is waiting for her stylist before her photo is taken. Check back soon for her photo. |
Fancy DHF
Our newest lesson pony! Please come and visit our perfect new little pony, Fancy. She is a 9 year old, jet black 12 hand Welsh cross (we believe) pony with a huge star and two hind socks. She came from a family in Columbus who bought her for their little son to learn to ride on and they bought her from a Friesian breeder who had her for their children to learn to ride. She is super easy for little people to walk, trot, and canter, she is great on the lunge line, while being led around and worked around on the ground. She just LOVES kids and stands perfectly still for pampering sessions! We are so excited to have finally found a well-trained pony this size, just perfect for our littlest clients! |
 |
Joker
A DHF mini! Joker is a miniature horse and Shetland pony cross with a height of only 9 hands! (He is already taller than his mom.) Eventually he will be Driving and will look gorgeous with his jet-black coat, mane & tail flowing in front of the carriage. |
 |
Snickerdoodle
Snickers, as we call her, lives in the DHF aisle. Snickers is 14.2 hands and 12 years old. Her best friend is Breezy, even though Breezy is much bigger! (They do look funny together in the field!) Snickers loves to take kids for pony rides and loves to teach people how to ride. While on the lunge line, she always listens to Lindsay or Jennifer’s commands to allow new riders to concentrate on balance, the instructions, and how the horse moves. |
