Profile
Everyone loves our Fancy Pants Pony. She is strikingly beautiful, super sweet and has been used in our lesson program both on and off the lunge line. We found that she’s so small we don’t get to use her often enough to justify keeping her. She should be allowed to go to a family to teach children the joys of having their own pony. She does walk, trot, canter and has started some leg yield work-we haven’t jumped her but think she would probably do just fine. She has a really fancy, toe-flicking trot that would be perfect in children’s short stirrup walk-trot flat classes or Intro dressage classes. Her canter has gotten much slower with regular work, but canter is not her most balanced or easiest gait. She is well mannered, but needs to have a small confident rider tune her up to remind her to stay slow. She stands well for farrier, vet, and baths, loves to have ribbons, bows and braids in her hair and she hauls great.

A significant reason for the success of the DHF Riding School is its fantastic herd of Dancing Horses. Because of the respect we have for our school horses, we do not intend to keep horses/ponies in our program for many years.
We are always careful to not overwork our wonderful equine teachers and to give them as much well deserved time off as needed. Very close attention is paid to their moods, condition, soundness, and training; with changes made as necessary to give them the best environment possible.
All DHF-owned horses receive routine veterinary and dental care, are up-to-date on all vaccinations, have current negative Coggins certificates, have individual nutrition programs and are on an 8-week rotational deworming program. They all receive regular bodywork and, those who need it, get joint therapy through monthly polyglycan injections that are akin to a combination of Adequan and Legend and are administered by our veterinarian.
Our school horses work hard as teachers and through them many people learn how to become conscientious riders and horse people. We clearly see that our equine teachers love sharing their knowledge with riders when they light up to greet the next student at their stall or field, but also believe that they deserve to eventually “graduate” to having their own personal family.
A DHF school horse is ready to pass on the teaching torch to his/her replacement when they have a strong foundation in correct dressage basics through professional training by DHF staff, have taught hundreds of lessons to riders of multiple ability levels, and have show ring experience. We pride ourselves in creating amazing horses and ponies because of these stringent standards.
This “graduation” process is just another example of how dedicated Dancing Horse Farm is to its horse and human clientele.
