Since DHF’s new location is well known in the local horse community, we thought it would be fun to share our “honey-do list” so that folks can get a feel for the projects we are doing to improve our facility. When you come visit us, we would be delighted to show you our progress on this list.

Barn #1:

  1. Repair roof – DONE!
  2. Boarder’s Tack Room – DONE!
    1. Insulate walls and install a heat source – DONE!
    2. Construct individual tack lockers for each stall – DONE!
    3. Install a keypad door lock – DONE!
    4. Install a washer, dryer and stationary tub for horse laundry – DONE!
  3. Powder Room Construction – DONE!
  4. Level and mat all 25 stalls – DONE!
  5. Clean up the second story observation lounge for boarders, yoga/Pilates classes, training seminars, and workshops – DONE!
  6. Pave aisles – DONE!
  7. Insulate all plumbing lines – DONE!
  8. Construct an apartment so that there will always be more than one person living on site at all times – DONE!

Barn #2:

  1. Repair roof – DONE!
  2. Boarder’s Tack Room – DONE!
    1. Expansion – DONE!
    2. Insulate walls and install a heat source – DONE!
    3. Construct individual tack lockers for each stall – DONE!
    4. Install a keypad door lock – DONE!
    5. Install a washer, dryer, and stationary tub for horse laundry – DONE!
  3. Powder Room Construction – DONE!
  4. Construction of new separate tack rooms for DHF Owner and DHF staff – DONE!
  5. Construction of a new grain room – DONE!
  6. Level and mat all 24 stalls – DONE!
  7. Barn 2 Power Room – Insulate all plumbing lines – DONE!

Pool Barn: – Future Plan

  1. Repair/replace roof.
  2. Fill in Equine Physiotherapy Pool.
  3. Install restroom facilities.
  4. Construct show/clinic/overnight stabling stalls.
  5. Possible construction of a conference center over site of existing pool.

Fencing:

  1. Repair all existing fencing – DONE!
  2. Cross fencing some of the current pastures to allow for more turn-out – Planned for 2008
  3. Fence and cross fence in the majority of the training track’s infield – Future Plan
  4. Paint all fences black– DONE!

Arenas:

  1. Repair roof damage on existing indoor arena – ASAP Waiting for Vendor
  2. Install over 125 linear feet of 6’ tall mirrors in indoor – DONE!
  3. Improve existing footing in indoor – DONE!
  4. Install a surround sound system for music and clinics – DONE!
  5. Outdoor arenas in the track’s infield:
    1. Repair and expand existing dressage arena (size expansion from 70' by 200' to 90' by 225') – DONE!
    2. Possible further expansion of existing dressage arena to make it usable as a driven dressage arena (dimensions: 40M by 80M) – Future Plan
    3. Possible future addition: a large warm-up/jumping arena – Future Plan
  6. Construct a second indoor arena parallel to the existing indoor arena – Future Plan
    1. One will be designated for jumping and the other for flat work.
    2. Two indoors also enables DHF to host competitions and clinics year round.

Possible and Ongoing Miscellaneous Improvements:

  1. Fire Safety:
    1. Install fire extinguishers and No Smoking Signs in all buildings and at diesel tank – DONE!
    2. Complete annual commercial inspection and approval by Clearcreek Township Fire Dept. (CTFD) – DONE!
    3. Provide tours of DHF facility and basic horse handling instruction to CTFD for their info and our horses’ safety – DONE!
    4. Install a fire safety alarm system in all buildings – Future Plan
  2. Driveway repair and maintenance – Repairs Complete, Maintenance Ongoing
  3. Install automatic fly spray systems in each stall barn – Future Plan
  4. Install automatic watering systems in all pastures – Planned for 2009
  5. Construction of some cross-county fences around the back side of the training track – Future Plan
  6. Construction of a permanent judge’s booth and a large observation lounge with bleachers at the end of the new indoor arena for better audience viewing and participation during lectures, clinics and competitions – Future Plan
  7. Construct 4-5 dry lots for all-weather turnout – Planned for 2008: the first to be installed in early 2008, others to follow
  8. Repair the improperly run septic line from the Powder Room in the Indoor's Observation Room that freezes in the winter – DONE!
  9. Construct 70' Lunging Arena – Planned for 2008

The Dancing Horse Farm facility will continually be maintained to the highest standards with repairs and improvements as necessary while adhering to the singular vision of creating a safe, healthy and happy environment for both our human and equine clientele.
